사람은 피리와 같다.
마음속이 비어야 하느님의 가락이 흘러나온다.
피리소리의 가락이 하느님 뜻이다.
빈 마음에 하느님의 얼이 비친다.
그래서 장자(莊子)가 허실생백(虛室生白)이라고 했다.
나는 피리요 피리를 부는 이는 하느님이시다.
피리에서 아름다운 가락이 흘러나온다.
그것이 하느님의 말씀이다.
마음이 비어야 한다.
허공이 피리의 본질이요 가락이 피리의 생명이다.
예수는 마음속에 영원한 생명의 생수가 한없이 솟아 흐른다고 했다. (1956)
Man is like a flute.
Out of empty heart, the music of God flows.
The rhythm of the flute is the God's will.
The Soul of God shines within the heart that is empty.
Thus, Chang Tze said, "The room emptied, light shines."
I am the flute and God the flautist.
Out of the flute flows beautiful tunes.
Those are the words of God.
Man's heart must be empty.
Empty space is the essence of the flute;
and, the tunes the life of the flute.
Jesus said that out of heart overflows ad infinitum
the spring water of Eternal Life. [1956]
